I am a current piano student of Kara Taylor. I am a voice teacher and Juilliard grad and have studied piano in varied environments since age 12, and I’ve never had as much improvement in a short amount of time as I have with Kara. She has been able to pinpoint the cause of my frustrations through the years, and presents music theory and piano technique in a simple but highly comprehensive manner. Her warmth and enthusiasm make lessons fun and help motivate me to practice. My goals with piano are kind of all over the place, and Kara’s lesson structure has allowed me to work toward all of these goals simultaneously.

She emphasizes the importance of scales, arpeggios, and chord progressions, as well as how to incorporate artistry and phrasing from the start of learning a new piece.

I am now able to better accompany myself and my students, read from chord charts, and have even opened myself up to songwriting and music arranging. I would recommend Kara to anyone interested in growing their musical knowledge, whether you’re looking for someone to teach your child beginner lessons, or you’re an accomplished musician looking to expand your skills.

I recently started voice lessons with Kara to prepare for an audition for a musical. Not only did I get a callback, but the director told me he was impressed with how much I’ve grown as a singer since the last time he saw me. I feel like I’ve learned so much from Kara already, and I look forward to progressing even more!

omg omg omg I get to be in my absolute number one dream show (as the lead)! This is wild.

Thank you so much to Kara Taylor for the voice lessons. ❤

As a graduation gift, my wife got me vocal lessons with Kara Taylor, because she knows that I've also wanted to learn to be a vocalist. Although I've only had as much training as singing to myself or in karaoke settings, Kara made me feel very at ease and confident that I can learn and improve. Kara implements lessons that both cater to me learning and improving on the basics, while also learning to sing and improve on personal favorite songs that I enjoy.

She's incredibly patient, kind, constructive, and a master at what she does.

Because of the positive experience thus far, I've decided that I will continue with more lessons, past the ones my wife got for me, and am excited to see how much I learn under Kara's tutelage.

As someone who is passionate about singing, I have been through countless instructors but never quite found someone who listens to what I truly want and evaluates how to help me become a better singer.

When I started lessons with Kara Taylor she was incredibly patient and open with me and made me feel like I was in a safe space.

Kara makes learning music so enjoyable and I owe my growth in vocal progress and music theory to her.

Thanks for being an amazing teacher!!

I grew up playing the piano and taking lessons for 8 years as a child. I began taking lessons again as an adult with Kara because I missed playing. It is not an overstatement when I say that I have learned more from Kara over the past few months than I did practicing for YEARS with both of my previous piano teachers. I believe much of this is due to the fact that…

…Kara does not only teach you how to play, but also explains the “why” and communicates it in a way you can understand.

For example, Kara knows I love formulas, so she tries to communicate music theory in a way my “math brain” can understand. Lastly, I also appreciate that Kara listens to what the student wants to learn and lets that influence how/what she teaches each week. Highly, highly recommend!
