About

Who is Kara?

Hi friends! I play the piano, harp, flute, piccolo, ukulele, guitar, dulcimer, tin whistle, and am a classically trained vocalist. I have over ten years of experience teaching and performing and do everything for the glory of God.

I aim to encourage my students to use their gifts for worship and service to others. I also allow space in each lesson for music theory, technique and songwriting to give each student a full understanding of their instrument.

I was raised in a family of musicians and started piano at the age of four. Once I learned the basics of music, I enjoyed learning any instrument I could get my hands on.

I am a graduate of Kennesaw Mountain High School where I was the flute/piccolo section leader and soloist in the National Champion marching band. My desire to teach and play music led me to attend Berry College (Rome, GA) as a Music Education Major with concentrations in piano, choir, and band.

After college, I married my high school sweetheart, Zach, and moved to Nashville, TN, where I taught middle school choir. Now I live in Durham, NC with Zach and our mini Aussie, Millie!

Along with teaching and performing, I also enjoy volunteering as a worship leader at Bright City Church, serving in a nursing home, supporting my parents’ music business (virtually), and coaching as a high school band clinician.
